There's a BGA article, reposted on the excellent and informative DG website, covering the visibility of coloured aircraft. The tests were well done including testing with military pilots with "trained" vision.
The results were that coloured gliders were no more visible than white ones and that the only thing which made a difference was reflective strips of some 3M stuff… like CDs I guess. There's also an old article where Willie Dirks is paying out on coloured hang gliders. Me, I prefer a bit of colour but then will someone who buys your glider layer like your ideas?
