That is probably highly classified.

Back in about 1985 -1986 I remember getting 2 Maintenance releases that were 650 numbers apart, 12 months apart.

I queried the bleats from the GFA (I was SAGA Vice president at the time) about how they needed more resources to look after the 900 gliders and motor gliders on the register given there seemed to be about 650 gliders active.

The reaction was to scramble thepile of Maintenance releases so us peasants couldn't track this.

I've no reason to believe the active fraction is much different today although Part 47 registration may have shaken out some long inactive registration.

Justin Sinclair, do you REALLY want to do more paperwork to prove periodically that your glider is still worth being on the register?

The sequence is Registration -> Certificate of Airworthiness -> Maintenance release. It doesn't work backwards.
