Also see electric motors, power controllers and batteries. Power
plants in gliders are a problem long term while certification makes
changes expensive and difficult. This is likely to be worse with
electric than with 2 strokes, especially with certified glider
manufacturers.

In comparison, the ultralight and uncertified glider manufacturers
seem to be far more innovative.
