Our club operates both winch and aerotow. For aerotow operations we have
used for many years ropes with two weaklinks. The one at the tug end is
rated at the tug's weaklink limit and the one at the glider gets changed
depending on its wear and the weaklink limit of the glider. It seems to
work OK and has not been commented on when site inspections are conducted.

Don't know.
When I used to use aerotow a lot the weak link was at the tug end. Has the
policy changed or was it indeed ops policy or just a local custom?
