Caboolture Gliding Club

Sunday, September 2, 2001, Watts Bridge 50 ks west of Caboolture QLD.

Blue day, thermals to 6500 (ceiling due to controlled airspace) approx 12
flights, 6 winch 6 aerotow, flight time only limited by not enough aircraft
and the need to dual tow back to Caboolture before sunset. Once back at
Caboolture at approx 17:00 Convergence with sea breeze provided another half
hour soaring before pulling airbrakes and landing.

Another highlight worth mentioning was seeing a meteorite burn-up whilst at
4000 ft in the form of a brilliant green blue streak which appeared to fall
vertically directly ahead of us at less than 10 Ks. This was also seen from
the ground back at Watts Bridge (thank goodness!, who would have believed
me). Whilst driving home I heard a report on the radio that flashes were
also seen over the Bunya mountains. Quite spectacular.
