Saw this in Aerokurier and thought it may be of interest Special display in memory of Edmund Schneider Wasserkuppe: The German Museum of Gliding on the Wasserkuppe has a special display in commemoration of the 100th birthday of Edmund Schneider, whose training aircraft were fundamental in determining the course of gliding during the 30's and beyond.     The Grunau Baby, of which 5,000 were built and the SG 38 trainer (10,000 units) carry his signature. Schneider's high performance ESG 31 Stanova was used by Wolf Hirth in his international promotional tours for the sport.      After the war Edmund Schneider found a new home in Australia. His glider factory began in 1927 in Grunau in the Riesengebirge. The family tradition is continued, in Australia, by his son Harry in his maintenance works.     The Museum of Gliding on the Wasserkuppe is open in winter daily from 10 - 16:00.
