While I agree that it is inequitable for the other pilots to fund the comps
pilots I think you'll find that the instructing accidents and other
accidents by those holding instructor ratings are what is putting up
insurance rates.
This is a good argument for a non compulsory GFA. Those interested in the
sporting aspects could join. Having a regulatory body like the GFA/CASA
levy members for other purposes is immoral.

You need to realise that the 90% "waste" is what it is all about for those
with vested interests in the present setup. The GFA is really the Gliding
Club Training Federation. There is no official body representing those who
merely wish to fly gliders.
