Jay, Contact the GFA for a special white card. Sorry I can't remember the correct name of it, but the FAA recognize it as a license. You just take it to the nearest FAA office, fill in a form, and they issue a a Private Pilots License (Glider). I did this in Nevada, no problems. Don't mention your FAI certificate, they are pretty clueless about them. Take lots of US Dollars as it can be very expensive when you have to pay the instructors wages and glider hire too.
