I wonder about the Airbus being unable to sideslip. At the time the only
Airbus products were the A300 and A310 both of which were at the time
fairly conventionally equipped with hydraulic controls. The A320 didn't
come along until 1987-88 or so. That did have a full FBW fight control
system but there was direct reversion on the rudder and elevator trim and
it was landed in the simulator by using just these.

Any A320 drivers care to comment?
