Last weekend we introduced members of the local aero club to gliding,
some even showed a genuine interest in our kind of flying - then again
A large number of our members on our airfield were also Aero Club members.

Agreed.  I'd always been keen on flying, but back in 1991 I'd never really 
heard of gliding, so I started GA training.  My assumption was that 
flying=GA.  Fortunately, I've since learnt that this is incorrect, and found

out how wonderful gliding is as recreational (and cheaper!) flying.
I wonder how many other potential glider pilots are in the same situation?
Perhaps the place to advertise gliding is in the GA magazines?
