If you want a good overview of "the environmental threat" I suggest Bjorn
Lomberg's book "The Skeptical Environmentalist". I read it and bought a
copy. WARNING - it is as dull as ditchwater.
If you want an overview which isn't dull as ditchwater you could do
worse than picking up Michael Crichton's latest, "State of Fear."
If you ignore all the formulaic bullshit about and the fact that
Crichton hasn't the faintest idea about character development and
has so little narrative talent that the only way he can tell a backstory
is to contrive a reason for his protagonists to have extended multi-page
dialogues about it, it's actually a fairly detailed debunking of
the worst excesses of the environmental movement.
The reason it's worth ignoring the author's writing skills is because
he's not only researched the subject matter, but has actually *referenced*
it with extensive footnotes from peer-reviewed academic sources. If
you don't believe what he's saying you can read the source material
for yourself.
