Indeed, you have pretty much described me. I got my C cert 16-9-76 (just happened to be handy), had a hankering to get back, managed a brief "3 day holiday" at Narromine in Dec93, though didn't get solo again, and those hankerings still get at me from time to time. As for targeting recruitment, I think that going for youth is a complete waste. They don't have "the time or the money" and they are still "living life" too much to want to commit to an activity which is (lets be honest) not up there in the "cool" things to do on a weekend. Instead, I think Gliding has to look at "the confirmed single" persons in their late 30's and 40's, people who have got over the "rage / party years", and who are also without wife, kids, or other substantive commitments, who are perhaps looking for a passion, and not one that might take them to the cleaners in court.
These are the people with the most expensive resource, "time", and, if they have worked a fair way up their career ladder by that stage, they should have the second necessary resource, "disposable income", and if they fall in love, they will stay.
So, in short, I think the GFA should be marketing in the various Business and Profession Magazines.
