Good thoughts, Don. Proper pre instructional flight briefings/use of sims
can leverage the actual flight training time.

Sims don't have to be complex. In the real aviation world it has been found
that cardboard cut out procedures trainers are just as effective as full
fidelity.

In view of our recent findings on wearing parachutes and the on going mid
air problem it might be a good idea for every training organisation to have
a simulated glider cockpit with seat harness and panel etc where students
can learn how to strap on a parachute properly, and how to exit the glider
in a hurry so the correct action sequence will take place when the real
emergency arises.

Launch failures and other emergencies can then be rehearsed here. The sim
will be better than the real glider as it can be designed to take the extra
knocking around.
Don't throw away the time expired chutes either.

Now the next question is "who will build it". Easy. Pay somebody to do it.

Mike
