Do you have a url for this specific task close at hand, haven't trawled NOAA for a while.
The NOAA soundings are at

For a while we were using the data from UWYO massaged & imported into Soarcast & were seeing reasonable correlation with reality. Started to play with the prediction models but they were pretty coarse in aus and time was always a bit in short supply. Free access to to bom's grass model would be nice.

The issue with the UWYO data was still the proximity of the discrete WMO sounding site to the airfield and the direction of movement of the airmass although in our case it wasn't too far away. None the less it was fun to mess with as there was a smidge more data available than the local charts ( just enough to get into trouble with ;-)
As best I can see, the NOAA site interpolates from soundings data (eg possibly using Brisbane, Charleville and Moree for DDSC) but it also forecasts sounding data.

The only problem with the site is that it is specifically designed to prevent automated grabbing of the data (you can get the soundings in text for further processing). This means I can't  create an automated system to create glider forecasts for DDSC (or for anywhere else for that matter).

But as this is their data and model, they get to choose what they allow.
