In a club, syndicate or commercial operator situation that would be a
disaster as every "expert" fiddles with the database.
In the B2000 we let you put in up to 9 temporary user turnpoints on the
instrument to cater for last minute on the grid changes when it is
discovered there is a problem with the contest turnpoint database or
someone decides they should go to a point not on the published database.
This is locked out in flight(TAS > 30 knots) as you DO NOT want to be heads
down programming a database when you should be looking out.
Another interesting point is why you want to do this. Entering turnpoint
data on an operational instrument is a pain as the human interface will be
optimised for flight use (hopefully anyway. It has been known to be
optimised for production cost).
Better to use a PC with keyboard to edit the database and transfer to the
instrument by that PC or PDA.
