Hi Ben,
If you put a hinge in the bar (hinge pin on bottom) then it can be long
enough to clear the tailgate of a vehicle and still fit in the boot of a
car.

I am about to finish the tow-out gear for our club Jantar. How long
should I make the tow bar connection from the tail of the aircraft? That
is, are there potential issues with the tailplane hitting the tow vehicle
if it is too short?
