Hi

At its recent meeting, Gliding Queensland decided to make FLARM 'highly recommended' for the upcoming Easter competition.

All future competitions held in Queensland will require FLARM be fitted in gliders and the GQ rules will be updated to effect this, possibly at the pilots meeting at the Easter competition when the new, currently draft, GQ competition rules will be discussed.

Exactly how this will be handled at the 2006/7 Club Class Nationals (at Kingaroy in October) is currently under discussion, but FLARM will probably be a requirement for this competition also (under a local rule if the GFA do not mandate FLARM for GFA competitions.

For Queensland pilots, GQ has purchase 5 FLARM units for hire and use in competitions and is making funds available to Queensland clubs by way of short (2 year) loans to assist in equipping club gliders with FLARMs.

Please contact me if you have any queries or questions about this.
