I've done a lot dynamic soaring with model gliders and it is a real rush.
The idea is not to build altitude, rather build energy which in turn can
then be transformed into altitude. The redcord for models is now around 360
miles an hour. VERY FAST!

IIRC Ingo did some dynamic soaring nearly 30 years ago in a PIK at Toc.
From what I could see of the NASA/USAF effort they got a small energy gain
but no altitude maintenance.
