Thanks to all those who supplied advice on fixing the brake shoes. Managed to straighten the offending metal bits and now have an excellent brake shop (Wrights Clutch and Barke Service ; Lismore) re-bonding friction material to same. Yes they are made by AL-KO Yes AL-KO are unable/unwilling to supply or help.
