Any pilot in my club observed responding in this way to a cable break would be immediately on a refresher program! Pilots should never be sent solo with the performance I saw on the video. Potential spinal injury and of course some pretty serious -ive G on that landing so the aircraft should be grounded until cleared by an appropriate inspector. Its about use of energy to maintain control.
Jim is right, a bit of rudder and it'd be all over in some types.
