There has been some comment to me off list about my admittedly superficial description earlier.
As it was begun on-list, I'll repeat my answers to those questions here as well until the list tells me to shut up.
(The next silence you hear is me being away for a few days)
* 'you're a known trouble maker, so you went to the regulator asking for an audit outside the traditional system'
Sorry, no, it didn't occur to me.
The audit came about after GFA President (I think) chatted to Secretary of CASA, as it has been told to me.
I was happy to cooperate as I respect the individual people involved in both structures.
* 'You can't hold accreditations in multiple parallel paths.'
My experience that this isn't so.
This reality is similarly reflected also in my working life where I am accredited to run regulatory software in building energy efficiency (by training by licensed people), and quite separately hold 'expert judgement' status through a government agency I have a seat on; also to assess building energy efficiency, but by totally different means.
And I simply declare in each case which field I am acting in, and the other path is not invoked.
In gliding parallels, I am a member of a gliding club not affiliated with GFA, and one which is.
Simple.
* 'You claim too much to yourself, quoting creation of GFA paperwork'.
Yes, you're right, many other volunteers have worked on creating gliding processes over many decades, in earlier generation, peers, and since.
In writing individual drafts, sitting on editorial committees, writing individual critiques, and apart from paid staff, all put their input in for the benefit of the sport in the broadest sense.
I thought I'd covered that by noting that others in gliding are eligible for audit.
* 'You're sucking off the established system trying to get everything for free'.
See above. You're right, like other volunteers I didn't contribute to evolving processes for years to then have that same material 'sold' back to me by a money making corporation called GFA., so that I pay repeatedly for having contributed already at my own expense as a volunteer.
