I can only praise GFA for their service and in particular STO/A John Viney. I
was issued exp cert on Thur 31 may after a mountain load of paperwork
(Kennblatts, manuals and crap) mostly translation from German. There then were
a few issues we missed (JAR22 SectH prop trailing edge clearance on feather)
but it finally flew on Tu 5th. Then I did flight test report and by 6pm last
night the new C of A was reissued and oniginal will be in the post today. (was
upgrade of Dimona h36 to Sauer S2500 engine but the same GFA service happened 2
months ago putting a Grob 103c III SL first of type on AUS register and please
do not confuse this wonderful glider to G103 II and the original Twin Astir but
that is another story)

You could not wish for better service!!!! and cost to us NOTHING.

Now that I have attention here is a constructive suggestion to the powers that
be. Many clubs sign up new people to gliding for 3 month membership. At
present these members get nothing from GFA for their $60 but I suggest one of
the girls at the GFA office at about 1 month before their membership expires
they send out one old Gliding Aust Magazine together with a nice letter
explaining the GFA system and inviting those people to rejoin the GFA for 12
months (explaining they can not have another 3 months membership). Also a
brief list of the clubs within their area could be included with a brief note
and contacts on each. They could be reminded that their membership of GFA is
useless without joining a club. Now I will guarantee one or two people will
cough up their $193 each week and the 1 to 2 hours spent by the office staff
would be time well spent and if this does not work in a 3 month trial, I will
pay the casual rates of the staff for their 1 to 2 hours a week. Remember at
the present these people get nothing and really they are a valuable asset that
the GFA have full details of. I would add a follow up phone call at a cost of
10c (VoiP) to the people 1 week after they get their magazine in the post. GFA
should become a drug dealer who is forever trying to get people hooked for life
on gliding.

Well today I am off today to fly a fully certified glider thanks to the GFA
