Hey, I'm not that old (not yet at least)! The quote was somewhat apocryphal, but loosely based on the combined experiences of people at a winch club. It was meant for illustrative purposes. However, some of the stuff was personally experienced by me over the space of 17 years at gliding fields (i.e. problems with car pooling, moody winch, leftover a/c maintenance, getting bogged, being covered in mud, flat tyres, equipment I lent to people being returned broken without so much as an apology, getting home at riculous hours after being the neighbourhood taxi etc.).
