G’day All,

4 months ago when I was looking for a place to rent in Toowoomba, I had some
interest from you lot to give an update on how I’m going. All is well here,
really enjoying my charter flying again, am the senior pilot for the base and
flying around the 50hrs/month at the moment – 90% of that is twin time J

Anyways, I’ve just cracked the 2000hr total aeronautical experience mark, here
is a break down on how I’ve got here…

Competition breakdown
1) JoeyGlide ’04 – 1st place out of 15, in an LS8 (thanks Paul Matthews);
After a George Lee XC course, he taught me many things, but most importantly to
believe in myself, and hence won my first competition after starting real XC
only 5months prior to JG04!

2) Waikerie Club Class Nationals ’05 – 18/51 in a Cirrus (thanks Nick Gilbert);
 this competition was used as selection criteria to gain entry to the JWGC05.
I had a great time, first senior comp. Learnt a LOT!

3) Bicester Reginals ’05 – 8th out of 32 in a ASW-19 (thanks Adam Laws);
Practice comp in UK for the JWGC05

4) Junior World Gliding Championships ’05, United Kingdom 15th out of 30 in a
LS8 (thanks Derreck Westwood and Ron Davis); First world championships, team
flew with my best mate, David McManus. I believe the 1st successful team
flying pair to compete at a worlds. Dave and I stuck together as planned from
day 1 until the end! 150hrs team flying experience together prior to the
worlds out of Kingaroy(!).

5) Kingaroy Multi-Class Nationals ’06 - 16th out of 23 in a hired LS7 (thanks
DDSC); my worst result to date, should never have competed, leave approved a
week prior to the comp, only a check flight completed since last day @ JWGC
(16months break from gliding) so extremely poor prep, no crew, unfamiliar
glider type, low on funds. Never again!

6) JoeyGlide ’06 – 3rd out of 21 in a hired Discus cs (Thanks Kingaroy); great
competition, was leading up until the last day. 98.2% of the winners score..

7) to be continued…

Regards
Adam
