Mornin' all. My father (one of the Nigel's :P) sent out an email this afternoon on a different chat list, and there was a bit in it that I found interesting. It's a pity my father and Heather were not up at Burke Town for the Morning Glory this year, as they're slowly becoming regulars (And I would love to be ground crew one day! :)), but also because they missed out on a little ceremony that would of been well entertaining. Some of you will know that the first people to ever fly the Morning Glory were Russel White and Rob Thompson in a Grob109, reg FFN. Well, as usual, Russell traveled to Burketown, in his beloved FFN, with his fabulous French Fiance in tow. Well, she flew commercial to Cairns from France, then caught a ride with another glider pilot to Burketown. Their plan was to get married on the Glory, but alas, Murphy's law got in the way and there was not glory, but they did it anyway. This morning (Saturday the 29th) they had the celebrant flying next to them in another aircraft while Russell and his now Bride flew in the good ol' '109. Dad said he pitied the celebrant, who would of had to have several 4am starts to get into the air with the rest to search for the morning glory. I strongly agree.
