Subject: [Aus-soaring] final glides
To extend on the notes published by Rob Moore & JR earlier;
glider pilots of our era are finding some of our peers are now passing on.
One of the things the various bits I am a part of in the gliding sphere is to
try to hold something of the spirit and contribution made by those who have
gone before us.
(On the basis of - it is useful to know what predesessors intended and put in
place, if we want a handle on where we might go and what we may be handing
onward).
Originally this focussed on historical precedents (Bob Muller, Neil Brownlow,
Jock Barrett, etc) (I acknowledge the work done by Beverley Matthews, Ann Woolf
& others which gel along with this work).
And then to do the same with subsequent contributors.
(Geoff Lloyd, Cleve Gandy, etc.)
For Peter Warburton, his will asked for his gliding collected material to go
to the library and museum here, and we are happy to hold that material under
his memorial.
We thank his gliding friends and family in helping to achieve that end.
Similarly, Ted Pascoe's widow Winn & Chris Dearden have ensured that in that
family clean up, his gliding material is secure in toto for the future.
I won't mention in detail the things we will need months yet to decipher; in
terms of documents and components which point we think to an EP3 'Canard Goose'
sailplane as part of Ted's legacy.
Thankfully the original EP1 Spruce Goose, and the 2 examples of
EP2 Super Goose types all also exist in sympathetic hands.
