Of course, many modern gliders have airbrakes positioned only just outboard of the tailplane and so sideslip can be perilous because the tailplane can end up in the wake of the airbrake, with the result of high turbulence felt through the control column (making it harder to detect pre-stall buffet), and potential loss of elevator effectiveness. With that said though, and with an appropriately higher airspeed, sideslips are useful and I do practice them in my LS3. _______________________________________________ Aus-soaring mailing list [email protected] To check or change subscription details, visit: http://lists.internode.on.net/mailman/listinfo/aus-soaring
