Although the political dice have been thrown with the referendum of
28 April and the Senate has withdrawn Tempelhof Airport from public
use, its goal is not yet achieved. Currently there are two claims
before BB OVG open. As long as these proceedings are not completed,
despite the closure, Tempelhof remains till 31st Oct. 2008 as an
airport facility and could - if approval
issued - also operated.
Regardless of which, Berlin has a private initiative, a petition
launched internationally and calls for signatures in order for
Tempelhof to continue as a Unesco World Heritage Site - Open with use
for air transport. Already there are 15,689 supporters:

Pass this on to individual clubs, friends and interested parties
who think the preservation of Tempelhof would be desirable.

Obwohl die politischen Würfel mit dem Volksentscheid vom 28. April
gefallen sind, hat der Senat mit der Entwidmung von Tempelhof sein
Ziel noch nicht erreicht. Derzeit sind zwei Klagen vor dem OVG BB
offen; solange diese Verfahren nicht abgeschlossen sind, bleibt
Tempelhof trotz Schließung zum 31. Okt. 2008 als Flughafenanlage
bestehen und könnte - falls Genehmigung erteilt - auch wieder
betrieben werden. Unabhängig davon hat eine private Berliner
Initiative eine Petition eingeleitet und ruft weiterhin international
zu Unterschriften auf, um Tempelhof zum Weltkulturerbe der Unesco -
mit Offenhaltung für den Luftverkehr – werden zu lassen. Bis jetzt
haben bereits 15.689 Befürworter unter:

jedes Einzelnen an Vereine, Freunde und Interessenten, die den Erhalt
von Tempelhof mit unterstützen wollen, wäre wünschenswert.
