Erich and others

I recently got an email from Ken Flower who has regularly been flying
motorglider launches in South Africa (RSA) from sites at 6500ft AMSL and
talked about towplane launches of motorgliders and turbos He mentioned that
at some sites *"You must"* take an aero assisted launches for your
motorglider -and I say again *MUST*!!!! ie if you have a motorglider you
can not self launch. Years ago I can remember an ASW24E at Kingaroy which
dogged trees as it did a takeoff to the east. Is this really safe?

Those that have been to Schleicher factory would have to be amaized at the
airfield they use for test flying new aircraft. They do use aero tow assist
launches for ASH25E etc yet we in AUS are not allowed to do it!!

I have written recently to our RTO ops asking what next but no reply so far.
I will never let up where common sense safety is concerned.

I can remember when it was a no no to do dual aerotows but finally times
changed. The old RANGA club just did dual tows with a PA18 150 HP with 2
blaniks on the back. I believe it was not a great combo!!

We got a dual tow manual and then it was all OK to do dual tows

So now it is time for a manual for towplane assist launches for turnos and
motorgliders

It is time for sure for a change and remember this is improved safety!!! but
just needs good notes from people with such experience.

Can somebody inform me - does GFA say we can not do it. Perhaps I can do it
without askingso perhaps this email is not necessary!!!
