Nice application. There are a few other that have similar features, most not 
designed specifically for flying. Some of the glide simulators for pocket pc 
also have the feature of transmitting position built in. but...

NextG is just a brand name. the iPhone does NextG if you are with Telstra. 3G 
is a set of protocols and frequencies.

That said however, most of the land we fly and land on is not even covered by 
NextG - it might cover 99% of the population, but I believe it only covers 
about 10% of the actual ground :-)

In Australia, we really can only use Satellite phone systems for position.
