I have not read a glider manual which advocated anything other than keeping very well away from silicone polishes.
Why not use a proper silicone free product like Farola (?) and not take the risk? There are a number of these polishes which can be got from the more professional car parts and crash repairers which state on the pack that they are silicone free. I'm not sure about the name, but the packs are all yellow and there's a range from straight polish to swirl remover and cutting polish. I saw Andrew Maddocks polish a wing with some of this stuff, and it is the only thing I would use on my glider. Meguiars do make some silicone free polishes. You can normally read the can and see if they advocate something like Paint-shop use but I think it is really important to have something that states silicone free. These Farola (or whatever the name is) products do state that.
