Both Master Instruments and Premier Batteries have at some stage
supplied Icom batteries, either "aftermarket" or they will repack your
own. They also do higher capacity types such as NiMh if you have a
suitable charger.

I know this because I have had about 5 types of Icom radio... UHF (3)
Marine VHF (1) and Air band VHF (1). None of the chargers for one type
fit the others. In fact none of the batteries fit either.

And none of the radios has a charge indicator or even a light to show
if the battery is charging. Great radios but.............

Master Instruments also sell the Swallow and Battery Fighter chargers
which are good. In particular, the Swallow chargers, which are
intended for model aeroplane batteries, can discharge, cycle, recharge
etc. almost all types of batteries including PB, NiCAD, NiMh and
Lipoly at a sensible rate. That is, you can charge an Icom radio
battery in under 24 hours :-) if you have forgotten to do it the Icom
way.

I notice that the EU have banned phone makers for continuing to use
idiotic chargers and are insisting that everything can be recharged
through some standard plug like a USB.
