I think that several of the ultralight sailplanes with electric self
launch capability advertise something like 3 climbs to 2000' on a
charge.
Having only one 20 KW motor is in some ways neither here nor there
since you can either arrange several radially around a big gear ring
or connect one up the back of the other.
There's a piece in Keep Soaring on a Plettenberg motor

which claims 15KW, 1.9 kgs and US$ 850.
With a club magazine like that the GFA should just give up on SFA or
whatever it is called now.
