Duct tape is the go in my experience, combined with mounts constructed from alloy or thick rubber sheet, photographic ball mounts and alloy tube.
I'll try and get some pic's of the mounts I have manufactured to get wing, nose and tail video and post them on this forum. The key to it all of this however is the new generation of tiny HD 1080P (1980 X 1020) camera's that are now cheaply available. My preference is the GoPro HD but I also use a contour 1080i camera. Both camera's have really wide angle lenses offering 130 degrees + . Another feature is that the actual CCD/Cmos imaging devices are so tiny that the depth of field is huge ensuring everything is in focus! The new range of so called flip camera's can also be used but generally I find that their lenses are not wide angle enough. A couple of notes of caution, it is essential that you discuss your intention to mount camera's externally with a Form 2 maintenance qualified person and follow their advice. Mounting camera's on wingtips is generally not to much of a problem, but anywhere on the tailplane must be approached with caution and mounting in front of control surfaces such as ailerons, elevators and dive brakes must be avoided. Also care should be taken when removing the duct tape from gelcoat or paint surfaces, duct tape sticks like S**t to the to the proverbial so it can actually damage the paint system unless carefully removed. The sugestions i heard so far involve a lot of duct tape. I certainly dont want to drill a wingtip but theres a tie down hole close to the rollerwheel on the wingtips.
