Most decent engineering suppliers should stock felt. The best quality is rabbit felt and you may be lucky to buy another real Aussie product refined by people somewhere else. 6mm rabbit felt.
If you get a metre, you can use the offcuts for a nice hat. Neoprene as in wetsuits might do. You might also be lucky and find someone you know with a sheet of the stuff, willing to cut off a bit for a girl in need. How much do you want? BTW, laser cutting is the go because it smells absolutely dreadful.
