Yes and no. What about a map. I know when I need to use a map, I
need to spend many more seconds looking at it to find where I am
than the tiny time I need to look at a GPS screen. So next time you
see an instrument on a knee, compare it to the map you have on your knee.

A little trick I learned from my 3 years at 2FTS which RAAF pilots
used on low level navs is to hold the map up. Your peripheral vision
still works for orientation and you move the map not your head.
