Hi Grant The Sports Committee met last weekend and the Nationals dates for Multi Class and Club Class were agreed and approved by the committee.
Once these dates are agreed by the relevant local councils and hosting club committees they will be announced in Soaring Australia Magazine, on the hosting clubs website, and on this forum. This should be some time early next week. Stay tuned. Subject: Re: [Aus-soaring] JoeyGlide 2011 Thanks for the update Adam. Can anyone out there tell me where and when the Multiclass and Club Class (grown up ??) Nationals will be held next season (am planning next summers holiday flying already). Regards, Grant. On Mon, Feb 14, 2011 at 5:47 PM, Adam Woolley <[email protected]> wrote: G'day Race Fans! After another successful junior nationals - thanks to Angus 'Gus' Stewart (CD), 'Super John' Hudson and his hard working team at the Waikerie Gliding Club. I thought I had better get started early to try and top another great event! Lead by a positive junior pilots meeting in December 2010, it was my job to put it all into action. What was said at this meeting? That JoeyGlide was to be held in Queensland for the first time since the event began in 2004, and the rest was up to the juniors to decide: Dates and configuration of the gliders. So after two months of ringing around, writing e-mails, and generally gathering the thoughts and views of the juniors for their preferences - it's with my pleasure that I can announce that the 8th Australian Junior Gliding Nationals will be held at the Kingaroy airfield! Particular thanks of course must go to the members at the Kingaroy Soaring Club (www.kingaroysoaring.com.au <http://www.kingaroysoaring.com.au/> ) for their support and enthusiasm! I'd also like to thank Ross McLean, Anita Taylor and their positive sports committee for Australian Gliding. They've both been of great help to ensure that our competition is held at the best time for us all, at the chosen site and not at conflicting times to the other senior nationals. So please join in thanking these key people to make our competition an amazing event! I've started the organisation early so to help the juniors plan well ahead, set goals, save money, etc. JG every year is a success, regardless of numbers. Why? It's the amazing culture that it brings, everyone is there to have a good time. As John Hudson described from the JG10 comp, "It's a senior nationals really, great people but all without the ego's!". The juniors are an extremely safety conscious lot of pilots, as they seem to be really concerned how they're looked upon by their senior peers - I guarantee you'll all be very impressed of you're able to make it to JoeyGlide for a look! The juicy stuff! *WHEN: 11-17th December, 2011 - with the practice day on the 10th. *WHERE: Kingaroy Gliding Club ( <http://www.kingaroysoaring.com.au/> www.kingaroysoaring.com.au), Queensland. *WHO (Competing): Juniors of 30 years of age or less at the start of the competition. However, to be declared the National champion and to be able to gain selection, you must be 25 years of age or less at the start of the competition. *WHO (Coaching): Juniors from solo standard, through to 30 years of age or less at the start of the competition. *WHAT (Competing Class): Sports class gliders limited to 15m wingspan. *WHAT (Competing Configuration): JoeyGlide will be a water ballasted competition using the lightly adjusted handicaps from the German Aero Club (read: OLC) - as used successfully at JoeyGlide 2007. *WHAT (Coaching): In gliders from DUO-Discus performance to IS-28's, with local and national coaches. More information to come on this great opportunity as it comes to hand! *WHY: Because we can! We're all looking forward to sharing this great event with you. So please check out the Soaring Australia magazine for more information, the March issue has the first of NINE articles in relation to JoeyGlide!
