I agree with Tom. Don't you guys listen for the thermals? I do. Gusts are very subtle but can be heard - better than feel in a full Discus.
John Butler Trio before a comp takeoff works a treat though - pack the iPod in case of outlanding & boredom, and for mindset pre takeoff. Sounds like a power plane function. Just because your radio can do it doesn't make it a good idea.....
