>>The complaints about a relatively small activity fee makes one wonder.

Makes you wonder that people have not tried some other fibreglass
sport like sailing where someone's hand is out every minute for
something.

The cheapest way to park a keel boat used to be an MSB mooring at
about $800 pa. At the same time, a club mooring was $350 per month and
a commercial one about $450.

We left the boat at Crowdy head one time, returning from a race. One
of the fisherman said "You'll have to pay for leaving the boat in a
pen… quite a lot…"

When asked how much, he said in a shocked voice "$20 a week!"

I tried hard to look horrified too as I handed over the money. It
would have cost more than that for a single night in Pittwater. To add
insult to injury, he insisted on running us to Kempsey to the train
and then insisted on picking us up a week later and completely refused
to accept any petrol money.

Do clubs charge for leaving your trailer on the field? While I don't
want to encourage clubs and councils to charge more, gliding is an
incredibly cheap sport compared with many others.
