Hi Mandy,
Good luck to you and Peter, and especially to the selected pilots - they are
without doubt the cream of the OZ Junior crop. I am certain they will give
it their all.
It will be interesting to see what weather Musbach turns on for the comp,
and how our boys handle the conditions. It is a given that conditions will
be VERY challenging ... but hopefully for only some of the time. {I am
assuming here that European pilots (due to their local knowledge of the site
and experience of European conditions), will potentially do better than our
representatives, when things are very marginal ... what do you think? As TC
how are you addressing this issue?}
Our pilots are elite ... the rest of the crew looks good too. This should
mean that the pilots are able to really concentrate on the main tasks, and
leave the non-flying essentials to you and the other crew!
I am looking forward to your (daily?) reports, and photographs, given the
great job you have done on these aspects in the past. Hopefully the pilots
can also fit in the odd blog or two also!
A personal thanks to Heath for all the good work he has done in the past. An
unsung hero for sure ... and here he is doing it again! Hey mate, when are
you going to do some comp flying again?
Mandy, I was interested to see on the official web site, all the guff that
is now required to be supplied to the organisation on weight and balance for
each competing glider. Is this something new? What gliders are the team
flying? Rego numbers? I assume they will all be hired? Are any/all the
pilots bringing their own panel, or favourite instruments? There must be
some good (or horror?) stories to be told on these aspects alone? Hint,
hint. Will it be necessary for the team to do a weight and balance for each
of the team's gliders on site (or elsewhere), in light of these
requirements?
Cheers,
Gary
