Hi Stuart You're right neither are available directly here is Australia, but there are US and UK sellers who will ship them here very cheaply and the app would need to be obtained from the US/UK store or as a direct download (fairly easy to do for android but I'm not sure about iphones). Neither of these things put me off.
Unfortunately MotionX seems to be an iphone only thing but thanks for the suggestion, I use google latitude but I find it unreliable as the phone drops in and out of coverage.
