Though I don't understand much about this specific incident, surely
having the rope wrapped around the back of the wind would cause some
of the load in the rope to be distributed into the wing itself?
This would mean the section of rope between the wing and the hook
would be under less load than the rest of the rope and therefor the
weak link wouldn't break?
Just a theory
