For most of this year original Cambridge loggers could no longer be used to
submit flights to OLC. Thanks mostly to Klaus Keim of Germany it has been
sorted out with OLC people. Unfortunately it has not reinstated its IGC
certification for all flying but I gather several people are banging along
with the IGC on that topic but like always it may take a while.

Anyhow below is a link which Cambridge logger owners should read and have

http://www.clearnav.net/main/cn-CAI-OLC.html

And for my annual reminder PLEASE READ the internal voltage when you start
up your old Cambridge logger and if the voltage is 2.7v or lower (near end
of startup info) PLEASE replace the internal battery with 2032 button
battery (available at most Wollies checkout) and you can change yourself so
long as power up logger with 12v when you change battery (under top
cover/aerial in mod 20) Also your internal GPS may fail due to internal
battery failure in Garmin Engine. Initially try powering logger up for a
day or two and if it still does not work thanks to Klaus in Germany I think
I can fit a new internal battery and restart the Garmin engine.

If using an LNAV then it too has same internal battery and its trouble
shows up as crazy behaviour. Finally if new battery does not fix your
problem lift up each edge of EPROM (marked v5.8) up 1 mm then repush
home..ie reseat eprom

Finally the Clearnav Varios should be available again by the end of the
week in USA so long as the power does not go out for too long in Kennett
Square PA with the big storm.

Have a safe soaring season

PS 1 I have tost ring pairs for $39.70 and not the GFA web price
of incredible $66
2 If you use a Becker 3201 radio then if you are loosing memory then
internal battery MUST be replaced as if it leaks it could very well damage
internal circuit board.
3 This year I have seen far too many BNC aerial connectors on radios
jut not up to standard. I recommend the crimp type but you must buy the
crimp tool for about $35. I am prepared to loan anybody a cheap SWR meter
to check your gliders internal aerial (I have found to never trust old
Libelle, Std Cirrus or Nimbus 4D aerial to name a few)
