Talking as rapidly as possible when transmitting aviation related stuff and at a normal speed and tone of voice when just chatting appears to be the accepted "professional" standard. Oh… and don't forget to clip the first and last words of the transmission… the location. That's the important bit to get everyone on their lookout. In my limited experience, the big airlines and the clubs are generally good at radio communication while the GA lot and some regional airlines prefer transmission to communication.
