Our current range of varios (all available in 57mm and 80mm sizes):
The B300 Club vario simple vario for two seaters and early solo gliders
B400 replaced the B40 - same features including push button averager
but more advanced audio option .
B700 with logarithmic scale for handling both weak, strong and in
between lift, digital averager for both 20 second and whole thermal
and our unique comparator which tells you to stay or leave for a
better thermal.
B900 same as B700 but with linear scale. B400, B700 and B900 have
standby power pack and are the option to replace mechanical varios
with many more features including front panel configurable audio modes.
The above are varios with no airspeed sensor. Prices from A$545 to
A$847 inc GST. Repeaters available. B300/B400 repeater now has audio
volume control for instructor as well as on the vario in front.
B700/B900 already had this.
The B600/B800 are our cross country varios. Appearance the same as
the B900/B700. The B800 has the log scale, the B600 the linear scale.
Both have an internal airspeed sensor for advanced vario processing
and data output to moving map displays.
They include our advanced aviation mode 4 Hz GPS sensor and the up
front display with large averager numbers (20 sec and whole thermal
in climb, 20 sec netto and whole glide performance index in cruise)
mounted in the glareshield lip. There is a navigation/final glide
and wind computer built in (with automatic final glide to takeoff
point available - now copied by others) and the two speaker audio can
be set up to help you center thermals by flying towards the
sound. A$2000 inc GST.
These varios are the result of 40 years of development and production
with thousands of instruments in use in over 33 countries and some
were used in the world altitude record amongst other achievements.
And the software doesn't expire because we already figured out
how to build cross country varios long ago. Updates are free.
Add a AVier PNA and the new Glider Tools dual data buffer/switch mode
power supply and for under $2500 you have a complete state of the art
cross country vario system with highly sunlight readable colour
moving map computer and built in backup glider navigation system.
Yes, you can connect a Flarm to the second data input and display
Flarm data on the AVier.
The B600 and B800 will be able to be fitted with our Dynamis system
which provides perfect knowledge of airmass vertical motion and
horizontal motion (wind) in the cruise unaffected by horizontal gusts
and even independent of the polar of the glider and how it changes
with bugs on the wings.
We now have made Dynamis work in turns as well as providing close to
perfect total energy in straight flight during extreme push-pull
manoeuvring. I consider this system to be the solution to the last
remaining interesting problem in glider instrumentation.
