Mike. There has been a lot of comments made re the Volkslogger.
As its agent, can I get mine returned to an IGC acceptable logger or do I just throw it in the bin. You may recall Rob Window and I flew a World Record 300k triangle in ZAX about 1996 at 187kph. We carried an Aerograph barograph - a Fototime camera linked to the Aerograph - and for some reason. I can't recall, needed to carry a "Joey". When I sent the Aerograph trace and Fototime film and the Joey to Beryl, the data from the Joey could not be downloaded and, on receipt, you could not retrieve it. To date I've spent many thousand's of dollars on approved electronic IGC approved data collectors and now none of them are worth a pinch of shit. Isn't it an ironical fact that the mechanical Winter barographs and turn point camera I used for my Silver, Gold and Diamond badges are still fully serviceable. My Aerogaraph and Fototime units are also still operational - the latter limited due short supply of film cassettes. I reckon I've still a few flights left in me that should be recorded but have no valid recorder despite my previous purchases. What's the answer? Noel. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Monday, 1 December 2014 6:39 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Aus-soaring Digest, Vol 135, Issue 5 Send Aus-soaring mailing list submissions to [email protected] To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://lists.internode.on.net/mailman/listinfo/aus-soaring or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to [email protected] You can reach the person managing the list at [email protected] When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of Aus-soaring digest..." Also consider the products from Tasman Instruments. Aussie product! The vario is nice and much cheaper. Does not require an extra hole for the control knob. The Air Data engine takes in pitot, static and outside air temp as well as vario and flarm and outputs parameters including true airspeed to the PDA. Also has an efficient voltage converter that outputs 5V to the PDA without draining the main battery. I think this package does almost all that the Vaulter does . They also can supply a sunlight readable 5 inch PDA.
