This just may work for owners that have reverted back to a date now April 1995.
You need to use Hyperterminal or Tetra term emulation program to communicate with the logger Set up a link baud rate of 4800, 8, none, 1 At the command line type EXACTLY what is below with YOUR latitude longitude date and time UTC. What I have below is my lat and long in Northern NSW. Also make sure logger can not pick up and satellites (cover with metal bowl) to get a command line you may have to type control C you will then see cmd> and after this EXACTLY as below (there is a space between s and 2) rgps 2835.680,S,15333.270,E,071214,221000 then enter To explain 2835.680 means 28deg 35.680 minutes and long similar and 071214 means date today (UTC) and 221000 means UTC time hhmmss (or 10 past 9 eastern time) The date should revert to 12/07/14 and then turn logger off then take it outside to get a view of sky and turn on again and in about 10 minutes or so it should find itself and be navigating again with CORRECT DATE. Please do not blame me as it is a Garmin Issue who nobody knew about it until about 3 weeks ago. You logger just may keep going but keep powering up regularly this season as the Garman backup battery needs a good charge. I have been told to change the internal Garmin battery (normally 3volts) as all are now say 15 years old. Of the 10 or so Garmin GPS engines I opened up today one had 2.8volts another 2.3volt another 1.4volt and the rest were 0.1 volt Doing this trick may get you out of trouble for the season. THe battery I am talking about is NOT the one in the top of the logger, It is is contained in a metal case in the Garmin GPS 25 engine. This trick WILL NOT work with the Cambridge 302 vario logger. I can thank Klaus Keim In Germany for working all this out. It just may work with Voltslogger - I have no idea. Good luck becuse you will sure need it and may have to try a second time if date does not change on first attempt. Ian McPhee
