Thanks Ian, I’ll try it next season.

I’m thinking of tossing out my Zander SR940, and replacing it with a modern
vario, front and back seats, perhaps ClearNav.

Can you tell me how much it would be for either two instruments, or one with a
repeater?

Does the ClearNav calculate and indicate instantaneous wind?

Is it able to compensate electronically? The Zander goes wild when I connect to
TE probe, presumably due to the two Winters that are on that line. And its
electronic compensation is crap.

All the best, Paul

Subject: [Aus-soaring] Clear Nav VARIO and Multi Function Display

VARIO

3.0 beta and 3.1 will be out very shortly so keep checking ClearNav web site
for the latest. I gather the jump from 2.7 will have improved performance of
the vario especially the gusty broken days.

I have some of these new temperature probes for the vario. I am uncertain how
it improves the vario performance.

MFD (Multi Function Display)

There is a mod to have an external speaker so you can hear the FLARM alert
audio. It is hugely better in volume.

MFD II is finally available and older units can be updated at a price. The
screen is even brighter and uses less power.

CAMBRIDGE 302 vario/loggers

I now have 6 more Garmin GPS 15xL-W engines (3 not spoken for). With the old
GPS15 engine the instrument still works including navigation but will not down
load a flight. If you check the date you will probably see 2005 (or maybe
1995) PLEASE CHECK DATE as I am still finding owners with date/download issues.

Thats all
