The problem here is one of perspective and expectations. The average full time adult pre tax wage in Australia is about $100,000 (give or take) https://www.abs.gov.au/statistics/labour/earnings-and-working-conditions/average-weekly-earnings-australia/nov-2023 Expecting $120,000 isn’t “demanding huge salaries they can’t justify,” it’s the market rate for a in-demand specialist with 5 years experience. You can try offering less if you want, but that’s how you get the desperate ones who can’t get work anywhere else, and maybe that won’t work out so well for you. If you can’t hire, offer more money and see who you flush out. There are plenty of people out there, if you’re not getting quality applicants it’s because you’re below market rates. - mark
