* Current Business

Note for issue resolution all items are tagged for Issue 8 unless
noted otherwise or disposition is reject or duplicate.

Bug 1718: Proofread 'with respect to' Rejected
https://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=1718

The description of $^ is worded that way to match the wording of $?:

<blockquote>where prog is not out-of-date with respect to file1.o, but is
out-of-date with respect to file2.o and file3.o</blockquote>

There are 125 other places in the draft using "with respect to".
It is in common use in English and we don't know of any alternative
wording that would be any easier for non-English speakers to
understand. Therefore, this bug is rejected.

Bug 1719: Re-evaluate 'shall be unspecified' Accepted
https://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=1719

Bug 1720: Remove 'should' for 'makefile authors' Accepted
https://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=1720

Bug 1721: Add missing numbering Accepted
https://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=1721
Accepted, resolved, issue8 tag

Bug 1722: Typos Accepted as Marked
https://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=1722

Make the changes suggested in the Desired Action except for the
change to line 105777.

Bug 1723: Re-check whether POSIX make is still a subset of almost all
implementations Accepgted as Marked
https://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=1723

Change:
Because the syntax specified for the make utility is, by and
large, a subset of the syntaxes accepted by almost all versions
of make, it was decided that it would be counter-productive to
    change the name.
to:
Because the syntax specified for the make utility was, by and
large, a subset of the syntaxes accepted by almost all versions
of make when the original IEEE Std 1003.2-1992 shell and utilities
standard was being developed, it was decided that it would be
    counter-productive to change the name.

Bug 1724: Duplicate paragraph 'do not do this' Rejected
https://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=1724

The paragraph pointed to by this bug report is in Application Usage.
The second paragraph that is similar, but not identical, is in
Rationale. They are not duplicates but are aimed at different
audiences and serve different purposes. Therefore, this bug is
rejected.

Bug 1726: strlcat specification is ambiguous regarding return value Accepted as
Marked
https://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=1726

Change:
Upon successful completion, the strlcat() function shall return
the initial length of the string pointed to by dst plus the
length of the string pointed to by src.
to:
Upon successful completion, the strlcat() function shall return
the initial length of the string (if any) pointed to by dst,
as limited by dstsize, plus the length of the string pointed
to by src; that is, the value that would be returned by
strnlen(dst, dstsize) + strlen(src) before the strlcat() call.
